Supporting People's VoicesSupport us by VolunteeringPeople's Voices relies on Volunteers to help us provide advocacy services. Volunteers need no prior qualifications, but they must be interested in helping others, able to take in information accurately, sensitive to the needs of others, patient, strong communicators (both verbally and in writing), and non judgmental. All our Volunteers need to undertake our 5 day training course. These are run several times a year. Courses are run in Milton Keynes, Amersham and High Wycombe. Dates for 2011 courses to be published soon. Prior to the course, candidates fill in an application form and talk to the course tutor. Download a volunteer application form Following the training course, advocates undertake an assessment interview. Once they become accredited advocates, they are supported with regular meetings and reviews and well as case specific briefings and conferences. Volunteer advocates give us as much or as little time as they can spare, ranging from 2 - 3 hours a week upwards. We try to match cases to partners to a particular advocate's area of interest, e.g. people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health service users. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer advocate please contact us.

Making a DonationThe majority of our funding comes from Bucks County Council and Milton Keynes Council. This funding is regularly under review. We are constantly seeking ways of broadening our funding base to ensure continuity of service and to enable us to continually seek to improve the quality of our service. From time to time, people who have particularly benefitted from our service (either personally, or on behalf of a loved one) wish to make a donation. This is entirely optional but does help us to help others. If you would like to make a donation please Contact Us with details. If you are a UK tax payer we are able to increase the value of your donation by 28% if you are able to complete a Gift Aid mandate at the time of donating.
